It’s pronounced CHO-BAHN-EE! Our name comes from the Turkish word for ‘shepherd’—a nod to the hardworking spirit of mountain farmers. Say it a couple of times, and it’ll soon feel like second nature.
Live and active cultures are friendly bacteria that help transform milk into yogurt during fermentation. At Chobani, we add a mix of probiotics and starter cultures, which gives our Greek Yogurt its unique taste and famously creamy texture.
Yes! The milk and real fruit in our products are pasteurised to ensure they’re safe and meet the highest quality standards.
Great news! Our Chobani Fit®, Chobani® No Sugar Added 100g Pouches, and Chobani Kids® 130g Pouches contain lactase, making them lactose-free and easier to enjoy. For other products, it depends on your sensitivity. If you’re unsure, it’s best to check with your healthcare professional.

Of course! All Chobani products are free from gelatin and animal-based thickeners, so they’re a great option for vegetarians.
Yes, many of our products are gluten-free, meaning they contain no wheat, rye, barley, oats, or other gluten-containing ingredients. Here’s a quick list of gluten-free options:
- Chobani Greek Yogurt: 907g Tubs, 160g Pots, 100g Pots, and 140g Pouches
- Chobani Fit®: 680g Tubs, 160g Pots, and 140g Pouches
- Chobani® No Sugar Added: 680g Tubs, 150g Pots, and 100g Pouches
- Chobani Kids®: 130g Pouches
We label gluten-free products according to Australian regulations. Please note, our Chobani Flip® products are not gluten-free due to their mix-in ingredients.
You’ll find the Best Before date here:
- On the foil lid for our 160g, 150g, and Flip® pots
- On the tub for our 907g and 700g tubs
- On the back of the pack, under the nutritional panel, for our pouches
Proper refrigeration is key! When kept cold, your Chobani will stay fresh until the Best Before date on the packaging. For our larger 907g and 680g tubs, we recommend finishing them within 3–5 days of opening.
Yes! Our pots, tubs, and lids for Chobani®, Chobani® No Sugar Added, and Chobani Fit® can be recycled through Australian kerbside recycling. Even the aluminium foil lids are recyclable—just scrunch them into a ball before tossing them in the recycling bin!
