How we’re helping: Thinking outside the box

2022 saw Australian households hit hard with impacts from the rising cost of living, pushing even more
Aussie families into severe food insecurity.

In response to this, we teamed up with our long-standing partner Foodbank to create two pop-up drive throughs at our site in Dandenong South, where anyone in need of food was able to drive through and pick up a free hamper of fresh fruit and vegetables and one of pantry essentials (and some delicious yogurt!) with no questions asked.

Across our July and December events, we saw over 100 Chobani team members volunteer, providing our local community with access to nutritious food for the week ahead. Each event saw at least 1,000 cars drive through, where we could distribute almost 2,000 hampers.
Food insecurity is on the rise in Australia, with Foodbank’s 2022 Hunger Report identifying that over two million Aussie households experienced food insecurity in 2022.

“In the last fifteen years, I have never seen a situation like this,” says Foodbank Victoria CEO Dave
McNamara. “Not only are some of our largest charities reporting that they’ve moved from feeding 1,000 people a week to 1,400 people a week, but our distribution has also gone up 21% – which is unheard ofin the context of those fifteen years.”
This landscape is ever-changing, but we’re proud of the different ways we can support Foodbank’s fight against food insecurity and truly make a difference for our communities.
