Our waste-free future: Doing our part to half food waste in Australia

The Australian Government has set an ambitious target to halve food waste by 2030.

This commitment was made to ensure Australia delivers on the Sustainable Development Goals, a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity We recognise the important role reducing food waste has on our environment and society. By halving food waste, we can tackle climate change, water-scarcity, and food insecurity.

We’re already taking steps to reduce food waste in our operations. We’re currently fitting out a new
state-of-the-art research and development pilot plant which will enable testing and validating of new
product designs and technologies. The pilot plant will support small-scale production runs, which will
reduce waste from our new products. Where we can, we also donate surplus food and drinks to various community groups to ensure our delicious and nutritious products are not wasted and go to those in need. Finally, we support local farmers by sending them by-product from yogurt to feed their animals, which also helps to reduce stock feed costs.

We are now exploring other pathways to contribute to this target and look forward to working with our
partners and suppliers in 2023 to investigate new approaches to reaching this ambitious, but achievable, goal.
